To the best of our ability, we built our new building as green as possible. We used recovered materials whenever possible, designed a rainwater collection system into our building (although we are still working on securing tanks), used low toxicity finishout, zoned the air conditioning/heating. We also operate as green as possible. We don't use paper towels in the restrooms instead using washclothes that are laundered weekly. We use only ceramic mugs for coffee (no styrofoam or paper cups), we also serve only shade grown, fair trade coffee during our church events. We'd love to have you come join us for worship and, if you are too shy to join us for worship, we'd love to give you a tour. and now, for those of us who live with the building daily -- here's some things you can relax about... BUILDING STUFF WE ALREADY KNOW ABOUT(in no particular order) Remember -- we are glad to have your help. And if you are planning on taking on one of these action items or you have an item you think you want to donate please need to check with Pastor Tina and the Trustees -- chair of Trustees is Terri Dauber who can be reached at: terri@davidandterri.com. 1. A lock box on the thermostats would be a good idea so the kids (and the adults) don't mess with the settings -- ASSIGNED 2. Dutch door is needed between the children's room and the nursery -- ASSIGNED. Right now we are leaving the door open and using a baby gate at the door. 3. We need a fenced play area -- ASSIGNED an Eagle Scout candidate (Sean Steel) has taken this on as his project -- if you'd like to volunteer to help you may e-mail Pastor Tina at 'pastortina@sbcglobal.net' and let her know of your interest and she'll get you in touch with our Eagle Scout. This is now COMPLETED! 4. We need landscaping -- ASSIGNED. Bill Carter has agreed to spearhead our efforts in this area. If you are interested in helping with the landscaping or if you like digging in the dirt, please e-mail him at 'bbillccarter@netscape.net' and he'll add you to the list. THIS IS STILL A NEED -- we especially need folks who can come out and water our plants. 5. We need a cross for the wall -- ASSIGNED and COMPLETED! 6. We need ramp access to the band's stage. We have a ramp to the altar side. Until we make a final decision about the band side we'll use the old ramp for accessiblity on the band side of the stage. TEMPORARY FIX IN PLACE. Now the temporary fix is gone and we have a PERMANENT FIX in place! 7. We need a phone installed in the Sanctuary building -- ASSIGNED. |
